With Halloween coming around the corner, there is a massive concern with drugs going around the block. And, as usual, it all points back to marijuana being the biggest one. There have been some people out there that aren’t entirely responsible and have been giving out these weed-laced treats out to kids in many local neighborhoods.
So, what can we do about this problem?
Well, the first thing that you can do is to be aware of the situation. Knowing is always the first and most important step if you want to keep your children away from being around this already legal substance. Having said that, you will need to inform your kids and teach them to be aware of the possibility of this happening to them.
It can start from avoiding bad neighborhoods altogether. By not going through dangerous areas this Halloween, you reduce your kid’s risk of running into this kind of situation by at least fifty percent.
The next thing is to teach the children what to look for when it comes to consuming candies. Sealed or wrapped candies are completely fine, but snacks that are already open should be avoided or at least inspected before actually eating it. It will be hard to know if the treat is spiked with marijuana or not but with a closer inspection, you’ll be able to notice a difference.
And, if you are faced with a situation where your kid has accidentally consumed one of these pot-based treats, look for the usual symptoms to confirm which are; shortness of breath, hallucinations, and an increased heart rate. After that, it’s straight to the hospital to make sure that your child is taken care of by a medical professional.
